There might not be snow on Marco Island but that is not stopping Marco Island Residents from getting into the holiday spirit with Christmas Island Style. Now that the Christmas Tree is lit at Marco Town Square Christmas Island Style swings into full force.
There is no doubt about it, Christmas on Marco Island is special, and thanks to the countless volunteers Christmas Island Style makes it so with:
- Lighted Boat Parade on Saturday
- Christmas Island Style Gala on Sunday
- 11th Annual Home and Business Decorating Contest kick off
- Christmas Island Style Street Parade will be on December 15th.
The Christmas Island Style Lighted Boat Parade will illuminate Marco Island waterways this Saturday at 6 p.m. The festive fleet of sail boats and yachts will parade Marco Island waters starting at Factory Bay and follow the coastline toward the Jolley Bridge before looping in front of the Marco Island Yacht Club. The Parade will continue on towards the Marco Island Marina, the Pier 81 and Riverside Condominiums up to the judges stand at Snook Inn. There are many wonderful locations to view the parade including many private residences on the parade route, Marco Island Yacht Club, Smokehouse Bay, The Esplanade and of course the Snook Inn!
The Christmas Island Style Gala takes place this Sunday at the Island Country Club. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour and sit-down dinner served at 7 p.m. followed by dancing to music generated by DJ Dominic. Tickets cost $70.
Marco Island’s 11 Annual Christmas Home and Business Decorating Contest kicks-off on Monday and Tuesday, with preliminary judging starting at 6:30 p.m. on both nights. LCEC has been the premier sponsor from the beginning, and has provided the funds for the new cash prizes that will be awarded in 2007 to all 20 Home Decorating Contest finalists ($500 to the winner and $100 to 19 finalists). The Business Contest Winner will also receive $100.
The Christmas Island Style Street Parade will take place Dec. 15, at 6:30 p.m. This year there are approximately 50 organizations taking part in this community event.
